Coyote was a Human male of Miwok Native American descent who was born on the planet Rampart in the 24th century.

Coyote resembled Red Cloud, the leader of the Oglala Sioux nation. His ancestors were storytellers who lived in California. He was named after Coyote, the mythological trickster hero god of the American southwest who gave fire to humanity. Coyote was old with white hair, but despite his age felt strong and vital. He was a member of the Dissenters, a group of insurgents rebelling against censorship of fiction and imagination.

History[]

In 2366 in Alastor, a cave haven, Coyote gathered with other Dissenters and Deanna Troi. He introduced himself to Troi and proceeded to tell several anecdotes about the mythical Coyote. Later, the Alastor was invaded by security officers from Cephalic Security and telepathic one-eye robots. Coyote let the robots read his mind, that he’d recently mailed tons of contraband, stories about Coyote, Gunabibi, Nikitushka Lomov, Rhiannon, and Odysseus. During the fight that ensued, he was able to block his thoughts from the robots by thinking only in the Miwok language. (TNG novel: Gulliver's Fugitives)
