Cradle of Persuasion

The Cradle of Persuasion on Planet X.

The Cradle of Persuasion was a fictional brain scanner and torture technology seen in the 20th century Earth science fiction series The Adventures of Captain Proton.

History and specifics[]

The device was built at Doctor Chaotica Fortress of Doom laboratory on Planet X. Consisting of a suspended device, controls, and a table with restraints, it could extract information from a person's mind, painfully. (Star Trek: The Magazine vol. 2, Issue 11: "Briefing: Captain Proton")

Captain Proton stories were often envisioned as holodeck programs by Tom Paris aboard USS Voyager. In 2375, while playing Chapter 18: "The Bride of Chaotica", Kathryn Janeway thought the equipment might be Chaotica's death ray. (VOY episode: "Bride of Chaotica!")
