Cragon V was a planet, the fifth planet of the Cragon system, located in the Organian Treaty Zone of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants. It was the homeworld of a developing humanoid civilization.

History and specifics[]

Cragon V was mineralogically valuable to the Federation and Klingon Empire.

In the 23rd century, the Federation made incomplete mining surveys of the planet.

In 2273, Klingons made first contact months before the Federation knew about it. The USS Enterprise was sent to assess the natives' level of technology and determine whether the Klingon presence had been detrimental to the natives. When Lieutenant Garrovick and a native child were killed, the local god Weyland punished the landing party by sending Montgomery Scott, Hikaru Sulu, and Pavel Chekov into pivotal points in Earth's past, and disabled both starships. Later, impressed by more honorable actions of James T. Kirk, Commander Kral, and the three time-lost officers, Weyland restored navigational control to the two ships and returned the landing party. Kirk and Kral recommended that Cragon V be avoided in future. (TOS novel: Home Is the Hunter)
