The Credence class[1] was a 32nd century Federation starship type, a supply ship in Starfleet service in the 3190s decade. The USS Credence was a ship of this class. (DSC episode: "Choose to Live")

In the 2410s, this future ship class was acquired and deployed by the Khitomer Alliance. In 25th century starship classification, the Credence class was rated as tier 6 miracle worker dreadnought cruiser. (STO website: Unparalleled: The Credence Miracle Worker Dreadnought Cruiser!)

History and technical specifications[]

USS Credence

The Credence in 3190.

The Credence class was a multi-purpose design engineered with redundancies and backup systems. Its resilience it qualified it for long-haul operations and supply runs. Structurally, a ship of this class was segmented into several detached components. The primary hull consisted of three saucer sections with the shape of incomplete rings. The outer saucer was wider and embraced the smaller dorsal and ventral saucer rings. A quad of impulse engines faced aft from the smaller saucer rings. The elongated secondary hull carried pods above and below, connected by pylons. Smaller pods floated to either side of the secondary hull, above the large, wedge-shaped pair of warp nacelles. (STO website: Unparalleled: The Credence Miracle Worker Dreadnought Cruiser!)

The interior included corridors matching the design of those aboard the Crossfield-class refit. In the year 3190, the USS Credence was among the Starfleet ships dedicated to delivering dilithium to friendly locations in and outside of the Federation. The Credence was attacked and raided by a rogue Qowat Milat nun during one such delivery. (DSC episode: "Choose to Live")

In 3191, the Credence was part of a standoff between the Federation and a Breen dreadnought. (DSC episode: "Erigah")

At one point, the Credence was present in the year 2411. Ships of its class began serving in the 25th century Khitomer Alliance. Typically for starships of that time period, a Credence-class vessel was equipped with phaser beam arrays and quantum torpedo launchers. In the case of the Credence, it was armed with 32nd century phaser beam bank and beam arrays. It was equipped with a impulse engines, warp core and cyclical quantum slipstream drive, enabling it to reach impulse, warp, transwarp and quantum slipstream velocities. Like will all 32nd century Starfleet ships, cloaking was an innate ability thanks to the built-in 32nd century Federation battle cloak device. The hull was modular and could be modified at shipyards interfaces operated by New Romulus Shipyards, Klingon Defense Force Order of Builders and Starfleet Shipyards Operations at Alliance facilities across the Milky Way Galaxy. (STO - Unparalleled missions: "Explore the Flotilla", "The Hunt is On", "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Specifically, a ship of the class included five forward weapon mounts and three aft. Dual cannons could be mounted in a forward position. Bridge officer stations allowed for a commander-ranked officer doubling as engineer and miracle worker, a tactical lieutenant commander, a lieutenant commander pulling double duty as temporal operative and science officer, a lieutenant of any department and an engineering ensign. As a science vessel, it included subsystem targeting, and the inspiration ship mechanic. This carrier included a single hangar bay, which housed a 6-ship squadron of 32nd century Federation shuttles. As an Alliance dreadnought cruiser, a battle-hardened ship benefitted from rapid repairs, enhanced plating, devastating weaponry, armored hull and surplus supply. The surplus supply starship trait enabled a vessel to deploy a micro-supply pod during combat. The USS Credence was the first ship equipped with the dilithium transporter. These built-in industrial transporters were pre-programmed with fleet coordination protocols and could beam surplus power to nearby allied ships, providing a temporary boost to their subsystems. The cruiser communications array was standard for cruiser classes, including the Credence. (STO website: Unparalleled: The Credence Miracle Worker Dreadnought Cruiser!)
