Croden was a Rakhari man.
A political dissident among his people, Croden fled from his homeworld with his daughter Yareth. For her safety, Croden placed Yareth in stasis on an asteroid in the Chamra Vortex. Croden himself was brought to Deep Space 9 by the crew of a Klingon ship. On DS9, Croden killed the Miradorn mercenary Ro-Kel, and Benjamin Sisko agreed to extradite Croden to his own people in the Gamma Quadrant. En route, Croden claimed to have met Changelings like Odo, although he actually only possessed a shape-shifting key that could open the stasis chamber where his daughter was. Croden gave the key to Odo, who agreed to say that Croden was dead, whereas he and his daughter requested asylum from a Vulcan ship. (DS9 episode: "Vortex")
The bomb switch used by a Changeling at the Antwerp Conference was made up of the same amalgam of organic material as the Changeling key Constable Odo received from Croden. (TNG - Slings and Arrows eBook: The Oppressor's Wrong)
