"Crossfire"" is a fourth season episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. It was first broadcast in January 1996. The episode was written by René Echevarria and directed by Les Landau.
Odo becomes despondent when Kira Nerys and Shakaar Edon become involved, which conflicts with his duty to protect Shakaar from a Cardassian terrorist group.
Summary[]
First Minister Shakaar arrives on Deep Space 9 for a conference on the Bajoran admission to the Federation. Constable Odo intercepts a threat against Shakaar from the True Way, a Cardassian terrorist group, so Captain Sisko assigns Odo and Worf to protect Shakaar.
Shakaar and Kira grow closer, to Odo’s discomfort, due to his own feelings for Kira. The threat to Shakaar is proven real when a turbolift that he, Odo and Kira are travelling in is sent into a free fall, but fortunately Odo uses his shapeshifting abilities to halt it. Odo realises that he was distracted by Kira and Shakaar and allowed the turbolift to be taken g
Frustrated, Odo wrecks his quarters, but is given surprisingly warm advice from Quark. Odo resolves to not allow Kira and Shakaar’s relationship to annoy him further and returns to his duties.
