A croupier (or dealer or banker) is a person appointed at a gambling table to monitor and conduct the game, typically employed by casinos. The croupier supervises bets, distributes payouts, tokens and/or cards.

History and specifics[]

A simulacrum of a number of croupiers were present in an alien illusion designed to resemble the Royale Hotel, a fictional setting of literature, specifically the novel Hotel Royale by Todd Matthews. One unnamed croupier dealt games of blackjack and craps played by Data in the company of the characters Texas and Vanessa. Another dealer was named Ziggy. (TNG episode: "The Royale")
