A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). For other uses, see Cygnus.

The Cygnus class was a 25th century Federation starship type, a tier 6-rated battlecruiser class derived from the 24th century Andromeda-class exploration cruiser, in Starfleet and Khitomer Alliance service from the 2410s decade. In the mirror universe, ships of this class served in the Terran Empire's Imperial Starfleet. (STO website: Reflections: The Agile Classics Ship Bundle!)

History and specifics[]

Cygnus class variants

Cygnus class variants.

In the primary universe, the Andromeda-class cruiser USS Pegasus underwent a refit under the guidance of the Allied Cooperative Starship Development Board (ACSDB). (STO website: Reflections: Remastering 25th Century Starships)

These modifications also applied to the USS Cygnus, which lent its name to the class. Its Terran counterpart was the ISS Cygnus. (STO website: Shadow's Advance: The 12th Anniversary Terran Bundle!)

ISS Cygnus 2411

The ISS Cygnus in 2411.

In the mirror universe, the Advanced Starship Design Bureau issued a performance report about the Cygnus-class ISS Pegasus and other recently refitted ships to Imperial Starfleet on stardate 88168.8 in the year 2411. (STO website: Reflections: Remastering 25th Century Starships)

As a variant of the Andromeda class, which itself was derived from the 24th century Galaxy-class, starship sections among the Galaxy-derived classes were interchangeable. (STO website: Shadow's Advance: The 12th Anniversary Terran Bundle!)

The Sirius-class was the three-nacelled dreadnought cruiser subclass of the Cygnus. The Sirius combined the Cygnus components with the Yamato-class spaceframe. The ISS Venture was a ship of this class. (STO - Cardassian Struggle mission: "Counterpoint")
