Cygnus was a star system, located somewhere in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, in the region of space visible from Earth as the constellation of Cygnus, in or near 23rd century Federation territory.
History and specifics[]
The Cygnus system's orbit was the location of a number of worlds, including fourth planet Cygnus IV, homeworld of the Megasoid civilization. (ST comic: "Who's Who in Star Trek, Issue 1")
Cygnus IV was also the site of a Federation scientific outpost. Sometime prior to the year 2368, Doctors David Prescott and Laura Prescott were assigned to Cygnus IV. (TNG - Strange New Worlds II short story: "Calculated Risk")
