The da Vinci was a shuttlecraft assigned to the USS Defiant in the 2370s.
In 2372, Chief Miles O'Brien and Doctor Julian Bashir used the da Vinci to investigate an adrift D'Kora class Ferengi marauder and search for survivors.
Captain Benjamin Sisko later used the Da Vinci to travel to Bajor. The shuttle was damaged by weapons fire but Sisko managed to beam out successfully before it hit the planet's surface. (DS9 novel: The 34th Rule)
