See Daniels for other articles with titles that contain, either by relationship or by coincidence, this character's surname.

Captain Daniels was a 23rd century Human man who served Starfleet, in a position as commanding officer of the USS Artemis in the 2250s decade.

Until 2253, Daniels's science officer and third officer on Artemis was Lieutenant Junior Grade Spock. When Spock was promoted to lieutenant and reassigned to USS Enterprise as chief science officer and second officer, Daniels regretted losing his trusted officer. He ordered Spock to take ten days' shore leave without any work assignments, and gave him a recommendation that Christopher Pike was tough but fair as a captain.

When Spock received a communique from the Vulcan Embassy on Earth canceling his leave, Daniels attached a note of apology that Ambassador Sarek's orders superseded his. (TOS novel: Vulcan's Glory)
