Daraniss was the judicial capital city on the planet Daran V.

Situated in a valley between the Rinwaul River and the Quartuk Range, the city of Daraniss occupied 1,420 square kilometers of land and housed 1.960 million residents. It hosted a major university as well as a ground-based spaceport. Public transport was offered via unirails, a hovertrain line, and underground shuttles. The city was divided into eleven districts:

  • ADaran Freeport
  • B — Tourism center and service district, with hotels and shops
  • CUnirail switchyard
  • D — Residential district for government and spaceport employees
  • E — Commercial district
  • FDarannol University, art galleries, museums, auditoriums
  • G — Residential district, a middle-class locale
  • H — Residential district known as "the Greater", housing the richest residents
  • I — Government district
  • J — Trade district, with some residences, transportation and retail businesses
  • K — Residential district for those working in the trade district
  • L — Residential district known as "the Lesser", with less affluent residents and no public transportation

History[]

In 2285, USS Hawley CO Gabriel Matthews was killed in District L while covertly investigating the Daran Veterans' Association For Strength, an organization believed to be antagonistic to Starfleet. (FASA RPG modules: Return to Axanar, Old Soldiers Never Die)
