In 2163, Dashec was the chief engineer of a freighter following trade routes in the Kandari sector.
On October 19, Dashec's freighter was pillaged by the Klingon privateer Sud Qav. Of a crew of fourteen, there were only four survivors, most of them members of Dashec's engineering staff. These included her breeding partner, her adolescent daughter and a cousin.
After they were rescued by the Federation UESPA starship USS Pioneer and received medical treatment from Doctor Therese Liao, Dashec wanted Captain Malcolm Reed to pursue the Klingons. However, the Kandari sector was outside of Federation jurisdiction, and the Pioneer dropped off the survivors in a safe location. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: Tower of Babel)
