"Day of Blood, Part 1" is a comic, the first part of a five-part Day of Blood crossover between the Star Trek and Star Trek: Defiant series from IDW Publishing, released on 19 July 2023.
Description[]
Immortal emperor of the Klingon Empire, Kahless II has consolidated power, raided ancient tombs and secret bunkers, taken the power of gods for himself, stolen the Bajoran Orb of Destruction, and commenced a slaughter across the stars. But this genocide of gods was just the beginning. For with the power he has stolen, Kahless is about to declare war on all those who do not follow the Red Path. To prevent genocide unlike any since the ancient days of Qo'noS, the crew of icons led by the emissary known as Benjamin Sisko (Star Trek) and the renegades who follow a desperate and violent Worf (Star Trek: Defiant) must unite for a common cause. Only they can hope to stop the Day of Blood.
Summary[]
Log entries[]
- Captain's log, stardate 55455.9.
- I am human once again. I find myself measuring time in hours. Months. Weeks. Years. The years I was away from my son, called home by the Prophets. The months I've been returned to corporeal existence, chasing the god-killing Emperor Kahless along his mad crusade. The weeks I've spent discovering a weapon capable of stopping him. And the hours I've spent alone with the Orb of Creation... fearing to gaze into its mysteries.
- The Prophets are mercurial. It has become clear how much they've taken from me. And now that I'm once again surrounded by Starfleet's finest, the appeal of godlike knowledge has lost its sheen. So, here, as the end of my quest lies before me with the USS Theseus speeding across the Beta Quadrant to apprehend the only mortal feared by gods... I wonder what I will have to become to stop him.
- Having lost time, space, and one of my dearest friends along the way, I cannot help but wonder... what more must I sacrifice before this day is done?
