De Groodt was a Starfleet ensign in the 24th century. De Groodt has served on the USS Enterprise-D and the USS Defiant.
In 2368, Ensign de Groodt took over briefly from Worf at tactical on the Enterprise. (TNG novel: Sins of Commission)
By 2372, de Groodt was serving on the Defiant. She served as relief helmsman for Jadzia Dax and piloted the Defiant through an interstellar storm that was approaching Deep Space 9. (DS9 novel: The Tempest)
