Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). A dazzling new full-length novel—never before published, never seen on television.Death's Angel is a Star Trek novel, a TOS adventure from Bantam Books in April 1981. This was the final of 13 full-length novels in the Bantam TOS series, and the last of three released after the license to commission new stories had been passed to Pocket Books for the numbered series that began with TOS novelization: The Motion Picture in 1979. This was the second and final Star Trek book by author Kathleen Sky, after her previous TOS novel: Vulcan!

Description[]

Death stalks the corridors of the Enterprise.
When Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock barely survived the mission to Delta Gamma IV, the deadly planet whose beautiful blue flowers destroy the mind and ravage the soul, Chief Medical Officer McCoy felt something was dangerously wrong—just how wrong, he didn't realize. For when the Enterprise takes on the alien members of a sensitive Federation diplomatic mission, the ambassadors are murdered one by one. The angel of death is visiting the ambassadors.

Background[]

  • The 1990s reprint edition featured new cover artwork by Kazuhiko Sano. Following closely on to the subject matter, the painting shows "the angel of death" with subtle accuracy, depicting a vaguely recognizable M'Benga wearing a hood, as he was described in the novel's finale.
  • The overseas reprint in the Star Trek Adventures series features a new cover painting of Doctor McCoy with on of the alien ambassador's eyes visible behind him.
