The Decartes (NCC-1701-D/11) was a Federation shuttlecraft in service to Starfleet in the late 24th century. In the 2360s, Decartes was assigned to the USS Enterprise-D.
It was capable of only warp one.
History[]
In 2364, Lieutenant Commander Data and Lieutenant Tasha Yar flew this shuttle from the Enterprise to the planet Treva to investigate events there. The journey took them several days, and Data programmed the shuttle's replicator with Aldebaran wine, quetzi ramekins, and oysters to add to their meals. They eventually landed at a spaceport at the Trevan capital, and the shuttle was stored in a hangar. It was subsequently stolen by Sdan and Poet when they kidnapped Yar, and it was brought to the Warrior's Rest castle. It was later returned to the Enterprise. (TNG novel: Survivors)
Early in 2366, the Decartes underwent an overhaul in the Enterprise's Hangar 1. (TNG episode: "Evolution")

Background[]
The Decartes was only named in a background display in TNG episode: "Evolution", where it was displayed along with a number of other shuttlecraft depicted as type-7. However, no image was given for the Decartes to show if it is type-7 or not.
It may have been named after the philosopher René Descartes, but the name was misspelled on the image.
