Deep Space 2, currently known as Tormerac Station, is a large Federation Starbase constructed in 2316 on the border of the Federation.

Service history[]

Under command of Tiburonian Captain Tenosh, several new members of or important trade partners to the Federation were brought it. By 2330, the Federation's borders had expanded so far beyond Deep Space 2 it had become somewhat obsolete, so the Federation renamed it Tormerac Station and declared it a free port. (Last Unicorn RPG module: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Core Game Book)

In 2290, Deep Space 2 supplied the USS Excelsior with a new plasma generator. (TOS - The Captain's Table novel: War Dragons)

Deep Space 2 was a possible new assignment offered Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge, should he have declined to undergo ocular implant surgery in 2372. (TNG eBook: The Insolence of Office)

In 2378, Ensign T'Lir served a tour of corrective duty at the station. (ST - Godshock comic: "Part 3")

The use of the name "Deep Space 2" after 2330 may indicate that a newer facility was been given this designation following the renaming of Tormerac Station.
