A deli (short for delicatessen) was a type of food vending business, a combination of a grocery store and restaurant common in settlements of the Human civilization, as well as other humanoid peoples.

History and specifics[]

A deli often packaged and sold cold cut meats and cheese, bakery items, and also ready-to-eat food such as sandwiches.

The Tipton Bros. Deli was a deli in the city of Los Angeles on the planet Earth's North American continent in the 2020s decade, around the year 2024. They served bagels, sandwiches, wraps, soup, and salad, and also offered catering. One specialty was homemade pastrami. Tipton Bros. was established in 1966. (PIC episode: "Assimilation")

Angelo's Delicatessen was a deli business in operation on Sigma Iotia II in the mid-23rd century. In the 2260s, around the year 2268, this delicatessen was located in the region controlled by Boss Bela Okmyx referred to as the Northside Territory. (TOS episode: "A Piece of the Action")

In the 24th century, a deli was operated by the family of the USS Titan-A food service crewman. When asked if he could pilot the Titan-A, this ship's cook responded that he had indeed taken lunar flight class training, but did not finish because he went home to run his family deli when his mother was ill and his brother had a hernia.
