Delta Dorado (also known as Delta Doradus or Gideon) was a class A7V light blue star located in the space claimed by the Federation government in the galaxy's Beta Quadrant.
History and makeup[]
The star was located in proximity to Starbase 173, and across the Romulan Neutral Zone from Lambda Crateris. Delta Doradus was known to Humans as being visible from Earth in the Dorado constellation, about 145 light-years distant. (ST reference: Star Charts)
This system was in the part of space known as Quadrant 0, in the general vicinity of Ingraham, Deneva and Midos. (ST reference: Star Trek Maps)
Located at coordinates 3.57S 2.35E; or 54.5, 42.7, -242.9, Delta Dorado's star system contains the planet of Gideon. (FASA RPG module: The Federation; ST reference: The Worlds of the Federation)
In the year 2166, the Battle of Delta Doradus was fought in the system between Starfleet and Orion forces. (Decipher RPG module: Starfleet Operations Manual)

Background[]
Star Charts and the Starfleet Operations Manual listed this with its correct Bayer system name, Delta Doradus, while Worlds of the Federation, The Federation and Star Trek Maps had an alternate conjugation of the constellation name. Star Charts also listed this as an uninhabited system, while Worlds of the Federation and Maps mentioned that the Gideonite population was reduced, but still in existence. The Federation listed Gideon as the first planet, and noted a moon, in contradiction to all other sources which state Gideon is the seventh planet and lacks a moon.
