Location within the galaxy.
Map of the block in 2410.
The Delta Quadrant sector block was a block of six sectors located in the galaxy's Delta Quadrant. By the 2410s decade, this space was under attack by the resurgent Vaadwaur Supremacy. The Delta Alliance considered territory outside this sector block to be deep space. This region of space was located between 50,000 and 70,000 lightyears from Sol. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Mindscape")
History[]
The displaced Federation starship USS Voyager traversed this region of space in the 2370s. (ST reference: Star Charts)
In the late 2400s decade, the Iconians used genetically engineered Bluegills to ally with Vaadwaur leader Gaul, and control the Vaadwaur Supremacy. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "What's Left Behind")
The Vaadwaur Supremacy, which previously had relied on their 15th century technology, was equipped with advanced technology and ships. This enabled them to go head-to-head with the most powerful polities in the region, including the Voth and the Borg Collective. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Revelations")
Their initial focus, at the orders of the Iconian Empire, were to wipe the Krenim Imperium and B'omar Sovereignty out, presumably for the Krenim's timeline manipulation expertise. (STO - The Iconian War mission: "Time in a Bottle")
In the year 2409, Vaadwaur troops landed on Kobali Prime and began besieging Kobali City and the Kobali people. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "The Kobali Front")
The planet had been a former Vaadwaur colony, and the Vaadwaur target the Kobali temple to recover their own held in stasis pods. The Kobali needed the corpses from failed pods to reproduce and maintain their species. (STO - Kobali Crisis Act I mission: "The Temple of My People")
Had the Vaadwaur not been available, the Iconians would have simply manipulated another culture, like the Hierarchy, to do their bidding. (STO - The Iconian War mission: "Butterfly")
In the same year, the Jenolan Dyson Sphere jumped from its location in the Jenolan system to the Delta Quadrant. (STO - Solanae Dyson Sphere mission: "A Step Between Stars")
This gave the allied powers of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants a base of operations and permanent access to these six sectors of the Delta Quadrant. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Escalation")
The Allies conceived of Operation Delta Rising to explore these sectors and other regions connected to the Iconian gateway network. (STO Issue 07: "USS Pathfinder")
They became involved in the fight with the Vaadwaur, who had been awoken from a 900-year suspension by Seven of Nine in 2376. Initially, people like the Voth and the Turei were suspicious of the Alliance. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Revelations")
The besieged Kobali desperately needed the military support from the Alliance. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "The Kobali Front")
The Benthan Guard welcomed the arrival of another law-abiding society. (STO - Friends in Unlikely Places mission: "Wanted")
Soon, the Alliance learned about the Bluegill infestation of Vaadwaur leadership. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "The Dragon's Deceit")
Realising that local support was needed to win the war against the Vaadwaur, One star admiral Tuvok of Alliance High Command called for a summit in the Al'yans star system and dispatched experts to bring in members besides the Kobali, Benthans, and Talaxians into the fledgling Delta Alliance. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Alliances")
At Vaadwaur Prime, the Delta Alliance defeated the remainder of the Supremacy's leadership, and Gaul himself. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Takedown")
Conflict between the local species and the Vaadwaur continued, however, including attacks on Kobali Prime. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Dust to Dust")
Benthans and Kobali ships were among the galactic alliance's fleet defending the Sol system during the Second Battle of Earth that ended the Iconian War in 2410. With the arrival of the Dominion during the engagement, this marked the first battle in modern history were members of all four galactic quadrants fought together. (STO - The Iconian War mission: "Midnight")
By the year 2769, the various alliances had evolved into the Galactic Union, which counted members of the Delta Quadrant sector block like the Borg Cooperative and the Kobali among its members. They became signatories to the Temporal Accords. This treaty, regulating time travel, was opposed by a rogue faction of the Krenim Imperium who joined the Temporal Liberation Front. (STO - Future Proof mission: "Time and Tide")
