Delta Sigma IV.

Delta Sigma IV was a planet of unusual origins, being the only planet in the quadrant where both the species of Bader and Dorset lived harmoniously, as they were well renowned adversaries everywhere else. This was the fourth planet in orbit of the Delta Sigma star system.

History and specifics[]

The mixed colony declared itself independent of its home worlds and applied for Federation membership to avoid reprisals. Delta Sigma IV was instrumental in providing the first wave of food relief to reach the devastated Cardassian sector after the end of the Dominion War.

Once the inhabitants realized their lifespans were shortening by the generation, they petitioned the Federation for help, which was given in the form of a cure for the Liscom gas that had built up in their bloodstreams. Unbeknownst to all, bar a select few at the time, was that the "cure" would in fact reawaken both races natural aggressive tendencies, rapidly plunging the world into chaos.

Fortunately a secondary cure was developed by Beverly Crusher and seeded into the atmosphere under the orders of Jean-Luc Picard quelling the nascent uprising and bringing a small peace to the planet by essentially re-drugging the inhabitants.
