The Delta-class was a type of spacecraft, a utility vessel used by the Federation in the 23rd and 24th century.
History and specifications[]
In an alternate timeline in the year 2266, Captain Christopher Pike referred to a number of robot mining ships as "Delta-class attack ships" in an attempt to bluff in a standoff with a Romulan praetor's fleet. In reality the unmanned mining ships had been retrieved and were operated remotely by Captain James T. Kirk. (SNW episode: "A Quality of Mercy")
In the 24th century, ships of this class had been outfitted and put in service as runner vessels for private owners. The Carabas was a Delta class runner, although the engines had been modified by Vilis Möhrlein and Kerel Tama to carry cargo nearly three times of the prior mass. (DS9 novel: Proud Helios)
