Derek Waverly was a male Human Starfleet officer, born in the 24th century.
In 2381, Lieutenant Waverly was the chief engineer of the USS Esquiline during that vessel's exploration of the Delta Quadrant. Esquiline's first mission was the establishment of a time-delay interface with Starfleet Command that extended almost 40,000 light-years into the Delta Quadrant.
He died with the rest of his crew when his ship was destroyed inside the Omega Continuum. (VOY novel: Children of the Storm)
