Destans are a humanoid species from the homeworld of Desta. They were indistinguishable from Hytarans and identical except for skin color from Nuofons. Destans were were hostile to both Hytar and Nuofo.

History[]

In the 23rd century, Hytarans and Nuofons believed that Destans migrated to a different star system.

In 2266, a fleet of apparent Hytaran spaceships attacked the USS Enterprise, and boarding parties penetrated the hull. After being captured, the intruders saluted Hytaran General Ari, yet he was confounded — he did not recognize them and didn't believe that they were Hytaran.

Shortly afterward, a fleet of Destan spacecraft bombed Nuofo and strafed the Enterprise, revealing that the Destans were a third party intent on drawing the Enterprise into the civil war between Hytar and Nuofo. Hytarans and Nuofons united with the Enterprise to drive off the Destan fleet. (TOS comic: "The Third Party")

Destans, Hytarans and Nuofons may be racial variants of the same species. Although unstated, the Destan prisoners were likely remanded to authorities of the the newly reunited government of Nuofo/Hytar before the Enterprise left orbit.
