The Devil-class, a subseries of the D9 class, was a type of Klingon Empire battlecruiser starship in service to the Imperial Klingon Defense Force in the 23rd century. (Last Unicorn RPG module: TOS Core Game Book)
Specifications[]
The D9 class battlecruiser variation was a sister class to the Z'gal-class medium cruiser. (FASA RPG module: Klingon Ship Recognition Manual)
The Devil-class was believed capable of landing 5,000 soldiers as well carrying 460 personnel and 175 passengers. Propulsion was provided by two warp engines with 120 percent greater power than a D7-class cruiser. She was armed with type VI disruptors. She carried 800 photon torpedoes versus the D7's 175, fireable from four torpedo launchers, a heavier load for bombarding planetary surfaces. The class was built with 10 standard transporters, 10 emergency transporters, and six cargo transporters. She was defended by type IKAF deflectors and a cloaking device.
Service history and disposition[]
Starfleet Intelligence believed the class entered service in the year 2265 and might deploy armored shuttlecraft. (Last Unicorn RPG module: Star Trek: The Original Series Core Game Book)
- The naming of this class could seem exceptional considering Kang's comment that the Klingons "have no devil". However, later canon and non-canon alike do posit that Klingon history does have a share of demonic entities, such as the mythological Fek'lhr, as well as their racial memory of invasion by the monstrous Hur'q and the Havoc (see: Invasion!).
