Dewa was an M class star and associated star system located in the Azure sector in the Beta Quadrant. After the founding of the Romulan Republic in 2409 the associated system was renamed the New Romulus System. (ST reference: Star Charts; STO video game: Legacy of Romulus)

Prior to Star Trek Online season ten, this system was located in the Nimbus sector of the Tau Dewa sector block.

Dewa had a magnitude of +9. (ST reference: Star Charts)

History[edit | edit source]

Dewa was part of the Iconian hegemony approximately 200,000 years ago, and gave the name to Dewan, one of the three major Iconian languages. (TNG episode: "Contagion"; ST reference: Star Charts)

During the Sundering the proto-Romulan colony fleet briefly settled on the third planet before eventually moving on to the Romulan system. (STO mission: "New Romulus Aid")

In 2409 Commander Temer of the Romulan Republic dispatched a warbird to search for a planet suitable for a permanent settlement, partly to aid the Republic's case for political recognition from the Federation and Klingon Empire. Dewa was the third system on the list, and after the warbird's commander discovered the lost Sword of the Raptor Star in an ancient Romulan ruin on Dewa III, Temer took it as a sign that the Republic should plant its flag there. A permanent city and military command center were soon constructed on the site where the Sword was recovered. (STO mission: "The Search for New Romulus")

Soon after the colony's founding, the Romulan Republican Force had to take to the skies to fend off a major Elachi invasion. (STO mission: "Devil's Choice")
