Diogenes Laërtius (180 – 240 AD) was a Human man who lived in the 3rd century. He was a biographer of many ancient Greek philosophers, including Aristotle, Diogenes (Greek), Plato, Pythagoras, Socrates and Zeno.

Legacy[]

In the 3rd century, Laërtius wrote a series of books about Greek philosophers called Lives and Opinions of Eminent Philosophers. Volume seven included a chapter on the founder of Stoic philosophy on Earth.

In 2293, Captain James T. Kirk bequeathed to Spock a hardcover copy of Laërtius' seventh volume. He also willed him a book by Aristotle and a poetry anthology. (TOS - Crucible novel: Provenance of Shadows)
