Discovery Era Starfleet Type 1 was a material option, an Alpha Quadrant Alliance designation for the visual appearance of a spacecraft's outer hull, i.e. a vessel's "skin". This version of Type 1 was available for Federation Starfleet starships and the Class C shuttlecraft. It was one of the default materials for ships of the line in the 2250s decade.
In the 2410s, the Discovery-era Starfleet materials were available for ships from the Discovery-era and the ship classes directly based on them. (STO - Age of Discovery mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
