Dolamide is a substance used in power generators, reactors and short range transports. When it is purified it can be used for weapons.

During the Occupation of Bajor, the Valerians would bring weapons grade dolamide to the Cardassian forces on Bajor after travelling to Fahleena III, Mariah IV and the purification plant on Ultima Thule. (DS9 episode: "Dramatis Personae")

The Valerians began supplying dolamide to the Cardassians soon after the Occupation began. The Halpas resistance cell discovered this fact and mounted an attack on the docking facility and processing plant in the Karnoth mountains. A departing freighter was destroyed by Lafe Darin, with the hope it would force the Valerians to stop providing the Cardassians with dolamide. (ST - Terok Nor novel: Night of the Wolves)

In 2369, under the influence of the Saltah'na energy spheres, Kira Nerys planned to board the Sherval Das, a Valerian ship docked at Deep Space 9, and seize any dolamide aboard. (DS9 episode: "Dramatis Personae")
