Doyle was a 23rd century Human man. He served in Starfleet as a security guard aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the 2260s under the command of Captain James T. Kirk.
Biography[]
Doyle's parents were strict Morganites who raised him in the Rigel system. He became close friends with fellow Crewman Mosley in the security division. Spock described him as a competent professional. Doyle was tougher on Kirk's nerves than Mosley.
Doyle and Mosley accompanied the landing party to the planet Heartland. Doyle was creeped out by the native Danons, sensing something unusual about them aside from their devilish appearance. That evening, thinking himself sly, Doyle organized a game of poker in the Danon village. Doyle and native Dazi won all of Mosley's credits.
Later that night, Doyle left the landing party's hut, enticed by Dazi's description of the Danon Giant Machine that offered a type of immortality. Unfortunately, his mind couldn't cope with joining its vast consciousness. When he was returned to the landing party, he had suffered severe brain damage and was catatonic — likely permanently psychotic, and would require considerable psychiatric care.
