The Dragon Nebula is a nebula formation, a space dust cloud located somewhere in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.
History and specifics[]
The Dragon Nebula was a trigol-type nebula, and had been colonized by human settlers from Earth sometime after the Eugenics Wars. Settling on Pai, these colonists renamed themselves after the same planet, and established a small interstellar nation called the Dragon Empire. The nebula received it moniker due to the distinct shape of a mouth of a dragon. The ionized gases of the nebula generates considerable interference with ship sensors, masking other vessels' locations.
In addition, the stellar phenomena known as the Dragon's Tail occurs, causing the gases in the Nebula to interact with the Pai worlds, producing an auroras effect for a year. (TNG novel: Dragon's Honor)
