The Dreamers' planet was an otherwise unnamed planet, the first planet in the Dreamers' system. It was located within Chuniikite territory near its border with the Federation in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.
History and specifics[]
The air was breathable on this class M planet, but aspects of its atmosphere interfered with sensor scans. Dangerous, carnivorous animals hunted on the surface. It had a small moon.
Two sapient humanoid species developed on the world, Brutes and telepathic Dreamers. Tens of thousands of years ago, Dreamer inspiration enabled Brutes to build at least one city.
In the 2230s or 2240s, a plague caused the extinction of the Brutes. Severed from their source of enriching life experiences, the Dreamers floundered, and thirty years later Brute skeletons still littered the city.
In the 23rd century, the planet and its system were holdings of the Chuniikites. It remained unexplored, as Chuniikites were too occupied with the Chuniikite Civil War to explore it.
In 2268, Lieutenant Janice Rand and a clandestine fact-finding team were near the Chuniikite border when their Starfleet reconnaissance vessel was detected. They were able to escape, beaming down to the nearest class M planet before their ship was destroyed. The team was soon slaughtered by aggressive wildlife. Rand alone made it to the city, where she was found by the Dreamers and entombed into their machines as a new source of experiences. Due to the sensitive nature of the team's mission, Starfleet was unable to conduct a search.
A few weeks later, the crew of the Federation starship USS Enterprise started having waking dreams about events early in Captain James T. Kirk's first five-year mission. Eventually they realized Rand was broadcasting dreams to them and discovered hidden coordinates that led the Enterprise to the Dreamers' planet. Kirk was able to rescue Rand and return her safely to the ship. (TOS comic: "The Dream Walkers")
