Duane Berryman was a 23rd century Human man. He was a science officer who served aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the 2260s under the command of Captain James T. Kirk.
History[]
In 2267, Duane Berryman graduated from Starfleet Academy and transferred from Starbase 10 to the Enterprise as a new recruit on his first assignment. Spock assigned him the duties of a science officer trainee, which included a rotation manning the sciences station on the bridge. Berryman was on duty when the Enterprise first entered the Prometheus system, and he was the first to discover life readings on Prometheus IV.
Berryman froze during a surprise attack by an unseen adversary which turned out to be a Vas Hatham-class Romulan bird-of-prey, and was terrified by heavy explosions shaking the Enterprise. Spock took over for him at the sciences station when Berryman confessed that he hadn't thought to analyze the enemy's attack patterns. He was much less panicked as he left the bridge.
