The Duderstadt class[1] was a 25th century Federation starship type, a tier 6-rated miracle worker science spearhead class in Starfleet service by the 2400s[2] decade. In the 2410s, this class was also operated by non-Federation Khitomer Alliance members. Ships of the class carried allied Calamarain in a dedicated energy being habitat. History and technical specifications[]
Ships of this class were part of the Federation fleet in the year 2401. (STO website: Both Worlds: The Last Generation Lock Box!)
In that year, the USS Intrepid (NCC-79520) was among the starships directly controlled by the Borg-Changeling conspiracy. (PIC episode: "Imposters")
The USS Trumbull was one of the ships taken over by the Borg Collective during the Frontier Day celebration at Earth in April 2401. (PIC episode: "Võx")
Ships of the class, like the USS Vasa and USS Zantra, were active in 2402. (PIC episode: "The Last Generation")
Starfleet and the Khitomer Alliance classed the Duderstadt as a miracle worker science spearhead, a type of science vessel, in 2411. Typically for Starfleet starships of its time period, a Duderstadt-class vessel was equipped with phaser beam arrays and photon torpedo launchers. It was equipped with a impulse engines, warp core and quantum slipstream drive, enabling it to reach impulse, warp, transwarp and quantum slipstream velocities. Cloaking was not an innate ability but various mechanisms could be installed to serve as a cloaking device. The hull was modular and could be modified at shipyards operated by New Romulus Shipyards, Klingon Defense Force Order of Builders and Starfleet Shipyards Operations at Alliance facilities across the Milky Way Galaxy. (STO - Both Worlds missions: "Explore the Flotilla", "First City", "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
Specifically, a ship of the class included four forward weapon mounts and three aft. Bridge officer stations allowed for a commander-ranked officer pulling double duty as science officer and miracle worker, a lieutenant commander doubling as engineer and pilot, a tactical lieutenant commander, a lieutenant of any department and an ensign from any department. The Duderstadt class could equip dual cannons and, as a science vessel, a secondary deflector. As a science vessel, it included the sensor analysis and subsystem targeting mechanics. It was equipped with the innovation mechanic due to being a miracle worker ship. As an Alliance science spearhead, a battle-hardened ship benefitted from enhanced particle generators, advanced shield systems, enhanced restorative circuitry, reactive shield technology and active EPS management. By 2411, every ship this class was equipped with the energy being habitat that housed allied Calamarain. During combat, the Calamarain aided the mothership by influencing its power levels.
