See Duncan for other articles with titles that contain, either by relationship or by coincidence, this character's surname.

Duncan was a 23rd century Human man. He served as a crewman aboard the Federation guardship Dorado under the command of Captain Louis Jago in 2265.

History[]

Jago mistreated his small crew in 2265. When he sentenced Duncan to ten days in solitary confinement for having a dour expression, it was the last straw for fellow crewman Erhard Voss, who incited a mutiny. Voss intended to kill Jago and his officers, but at Duncan's insistence that they not become murderers, Voss exiled Jago's supporters in a class F shuttlecraft.

Duncan was shaken when Voss disabled the starship USS Enterprise with a tricky move, saying that Voss should have fought a fair fight, but Voss said Duncan lacked a backbone and was all too happy to let Voss organize the mutiny.

When James T. Kirk transmitted a warning that a Klingon envoy from a Klingon transit-hopper shuttlecraft was a robot, Duncan jumped to action and crushed the robot with the ship's airlock hatch, affirming that Kirk wouldn't lie, and deadly green gas leaking from the crushed robot supported Duncan's belief. He urged the crew to surrender to Kirk because they'd get no mercy from the Klingons. Voss punched him hard, saying they'd never surrender.

As they began an assault on the planet Necros, a crewman said Voss would end up killing them all, but Duncan was too afraid of being gunned down by Voss to defy him further. (TOS comic: "Mutiny on the Dorado")

Duncan did not wear a Starfleet uniform and appeared to serve in a non-Starfleet border patrol service.
