Durham was a 23rd century Human man, an officer in the Federation Starfleet.
Biography[]
In the 2230s or 2240s decades, Durham launched a rescue mission without knowing many of the details, an incident that Captain James T. Kirk would later become aware of.
By the late 2260s, Durham was a flag officer who held the rank of admiral and served at Starfleet Command.
In the year 2268, Durham was at least familiar with a clandestine fact-finding mission undertaken by Lieutenant Janice Rand and a team on a planet near the Federation's border with the Chuniikites. Contact had been lost, and Starfleet couldn't conduct a search without drawing attention to the mission.
A few weeks later, Kirk tried contacting Rand at Starfleet Headquarters. She didn't answer, but soon Durham contacted Kirk. Kirk explained that waking dreams affecting dozens of the USS Enterprise crew seemed to be coming from Rand. Spock found anomalous coordinates in his waking dream that were within Chuniikite territory. Kirk confessed that it was a feeble lead, but Durham understood and approved the search.
