Dysprosium (symbol Dy) is a chemical element, atomic number 66 on the periodic table.

Characteristics and historyEdit

Dysprosium has an atomic mass of 162.5, and was discovered by Humans on Earth's European continent for the first time by scientists working in France in the year 1886. This element is part of the lanthanide series of heavy elements. (ST reference: Star Fleet Medical Reference Manual)

The abundance of dysprosium in a brown dwarf star was different than regular stars, when factored with terbium, holmium, erbium, and europium, according to an impromptu scientific dissertation given by Data in 2365. (TNG episode: "Manhunt")
