Dytallix B (Mira Antliae V) was an uninhabited planet located in the space of the galaxy's Beta Quadrant, the fifth planet in orbit of the Mira Antliae star system.
History[]
Dytallix B took 370 solar days to complete a solar year. As Dytallix B was tidally locked to its star, its unlit hemisphere froze to -150° Celsius while its lit side heated to nearly 180° C. Between these extremes, about ten percent of the surface resided in a temperate zone, though no life evolved there. It had a gravity of 1.3 G, no surface water, and rare rainfall. Its deep maroon-colored sky was denser than Earth's with trace ammonia and methane amounts in the upper atmosphere. It had no moons. (Last Unicorn RPG module: Planets of the UFP)
On the "outer rim" of Federation space in the mid-24th century, Dytallix B was once a mining colony operated by the Dytallix Mining Company. (TNG episode: "Conspiracy")
At its maximum capacity, each day up to 30,000 miners removed 2,000 tons of an ore used to make duranium. By 2320 the mines had been played out. (Last Unicorn RPG module: Planets of the UFP)
By the 2360s decade, the mining colony had been abandoned and left derelict. In the year 2364, the colony served as a meeting place for the USS Renegade, the USS Thomas Paine, the USS Horatio, and, lastly arriving late, the famous USS Enterprise-D, where Captains Jean-Luc Picard, Walker Keel, Tryla Scott, and Rixx discussed the infiltration of bluegill neural parasites within Starfleet. (TNG episode: "Conspiracy")
Shortly afterward, a small group of Ferengi established a base on Dytallix B for counterfeiting and smuggling operations. (Last Unicorn RPG module: Planets of the UFP)
In 2371, a Starfleet astrophysics team was located on Dytallix B to study unusual neutrino migrations within its star. (TNG novel: The Best and the Brightest)
