See Gates for other articles with titles that contain, either by relationship or by coincidence, this character's surname.

E. Gates (born reference stardate 1/79) was a 23rd century Human, an enlisted Starfleet engineer crewperson in the 2270s decade.

Biography

Gates was serving in the engineering department of the Federation starship USS Arkadelphia on stardate 2/18, under the command of Captain Ian Vellacora.

Gates was briefly confined to quarters by Captain Vellacora when it was discovered he was avoiding assigned duty. From then on, Gates felt he had a score to settle with the captain, particularly in the concern that Vellacora does not respect the contributions of low-ranking enlisted persons among the crew.

During the ship's first mission to the border of the Asparax Confederation, Gates was on the roster to be reassigned to security during a shipboard emergency, on security team 2. At the beginning of the emergency, Gates could be found off-duty in the dining area. (FASA RPG module: Decision at Midnight)

Background

In the game statistics provided for the non-player characters, Gates had 20% as a numerical rating of loyalty to Captain Vellacora, making it very likely a die roll would side Gates with mutineers and assist them in relieving the captain of command. There is only a low chance a random roll would side this crewman with the captain.
