For other uses, see Philadelphia.

The ECS Philadelphia was an Earth Cargo Service starship operating in the early-22nd century. It was named after the Earth city of Philadelphia.

Service history[]

In the late-2140s decade, the Philadelphia visited the planet Omega IV, its crew leaving behind replicas of American paraphernalia. Shortly afterwards, the ship and crew disappeared.

After personnel from the Federation Starfleet starship USS Enterprise discovered the American artifacts on Omega IV in the year 2268, Doctor Meijan Grey and the Denobulan sociologist, Crenfel, investigated the discovery. They deduced that the Philadelphia crew gave the native Yangs the replicas to encourage them to fight for their freedom against the Kohms. While on the planet, the crew contracted the Omega IV virus and died from it after they departed. (TOS episode: "The Omega Glory"; DTI novel: Forgotten History)
