In 2372, a group of rogue Jem'Hadar attacked Deep Space 9 and stole several EPS power stabilizers, along with other technology such as photonic amplifiers and microfusion initiators, to be used to bring an Iconian gateway in the Gamma Quadrant online. (DS9 episode: "To the Death")

In 2376, Geordi La Forge used an EPS power stabilizer and microfusion initiators to open an Iconian gateway that was aboard a Petraw ship. (TNG - Gateways novel: Doors Into Chaos)
