Earth Station Ten was a 21st century space station facility in Earth orbit in the fictional science fiction universe of The Adventures of Captain Proton.

Specifications[]

It was of 4,000 orbiting stations that served as Earth's planetary defense system. The large, wheel-shaped facility had at least one observation port. The heart of the station contained a vast room 300 feet tall — the power generator and targeting systems for an atomic mega-lazer that was able to destroy an invading battleship. The Earth Stations could synchronize their mega-lazers into a single weapons blast for increased firepower. Additionally, Earth Station Ten had a few hundred manned laser batteries employed to repel an invading fleet of smaller craft.

Fictional service history[]

In the year 2000, Captain Proton pursued a villain from Seattle to the station aboard a bullet-shaped, civilian ground-to-orbit rocket. The mega-lazer's staff of five was found murdered and floating in zero gravity, but Proton was able to capture the villain, securing him with magneto-cuffs and bringing him back to Earth Security. (ST - Captain Proton: Defender of the Earth short story: "The City of the Future")
