"Echoes, Issue 1" is a comic, the debut issue for the miniseries The Motion Picture: Echoes from IDW Publishing, released in May 2023.
Description[]
- When a space anomaly thrusts a bounty hunter and her target — a criminal mastermind — into their universe, it's up to Kirk and his crew to stop them from unintentionally starting a war with the Romulans and unleashing a superweapon of foreign tech onto the system. But the strangers from another universe are more familiar than they assume … for underneath their helmets are their doppelgängers — from an alternate reality!

Background[]
- The story was set during the refit Enterprise's shakedown cruise not long after the V'Ger crisis of 2273. Echoes, Issue 5 included a log entry for stardate 7417.9.
- James T. Kirk had not yet heard of Bajorans in the story. This contradicted TOS novel: Allegiance in Exile, which described Kirk making first contact with Bajor in 2270.
- The spatial anomaly very much resembled quantum storms encountered in the Kelvin timeline in 2261 and 2263.
- On page 15, Heihachiro Nogura's given name is misspelled "Heihachrio".
