Lieutenant Edward Rayburn was a Human Starfleet security officer serving aboard the USS Enterprise, under the command of Captain James T. Kirk, in the 2260s.
In late 2265, Rayburn attended Lieutenant Lee Kelso's memorial service that was held in the ship's chapel. Sitting on the front row alongside his colleague, Mathews, Lieutenant Stiles and Captain Kirk. (TOS - My Brother's Keeper novel: Constitution)
In 2266, Rayburn and Mathews accompanied Captain Kirk and Christine Chapel to the surface of Exo III to ascertain the location of Doctor Roger Korby's archaeological expedition. Both security officers were killed by the android Ruk. (TOS - Errand of Vengeance novel: The Edge of the Sword; TOS episode: "What Are Little Girls Made Of?")

Background
- Rayburns' first name wasn't established in his one screen appearance in TOS episode: "What Are Little Girls Made Of?". The name Edward was first established in the TOS - Errand of Vengeance novel: The Edge of the Sword.
- In TOS - My Brother's Keeper novel: Constitution, Captain Kirk referred to Rayburn as "Lieutenant", yet in "What Are Little Girls Made Of?", Rayburn had no rank insignia displayed on his uniform sleeve suggesting he was an ensign or crewman.
