Edwards Air Force Base is a United States Air Force facility located in southern California in the 20th and 21st centuries.

History and specifics[]

In the 1950s, officers from Edwards visited Schlitz Periodicals after Watch the Skies magazine published an article about Project Blue Book activities in 1951 and 1952. Reporter Calvin Sutherland believed the two men sought the identity of his sources, but he'd locked that information away in various safe deposit boxes registered under fake names. (TOS novel: From History's Shadow)

In 1977, the space shuttle Enterprise's flight tests were conducted at Edwards. (Star Trek: The Magazine Issue 9: "The 'Real' Starship Enterprise")

On 11 September 2001, Lieutenant Colonel John Christopher was scheduled to fly from Boston to Los Angeles, then onward to Edwards, but Gary Seven prevented him from boarding the doomed flight. (TOS - Strange New Worlds 8 short story: "Assignment: One")

On 14 October 1947, Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier aboard the Bell X-1 at Edwards.
