An electric eel is a type of aquatic animal lifeform capable of generating an electrical charge, used for hunting and self-defense. Species of electric eel are native to Earth and to Ferenginar.
A thief named Flus created a suit made of live, genetically engineered electric eels, which were trained to invade homes and ingest whatever latinum they could find before returning to their owner. (DS9 reference: Legends of the Ferengi)
- The electric eel of Earth is in fact a variety of knifefish, while the Ferengi species is apparently an actual eel.
