elininae is the Tezwan word for people from the lowlands and is one of the two races of Tezwans. Characterized by shorter and leaner bodies than trinae, elininae are commonly considered to also be less smart but more aggressive. Former Prime Minister Kinchawn was a notable elininae. The elininae controlled the Lacaam Coalition in the Tezwan Assembly.

Since ancient times, tribal tensions had existed between the trinae and elininae. Slowly, the xenophobia had waned, but the election of Kinchawn had seen a spike in hostilities. The exile of Kinchawn and his guerrilla attacks saw a renewed assault of the elininae against trinae-dominated settlements.

(TNG novels: A Time to Kill, A Time to Heal)

Note that "elininae" is plural and not capitalized. The singular form is elininim.
