An Emergency Medical Android
The Emergency Medical Android was an artificial intelligence, a medical emergency-response android in Starfleet service aboard the Warship USS Voyager. The EMA's Warship reality was based on a Kyrian simulation. (ST video game: Star Trek Timelines event: "Joy to the World", VOY episode: "Living Witness")
Simulation[]
In the historically inaccurate recreation of USS Voyager's visit to the Kyrian-Vaskan homeworld around 2374, the Kyrians interpreted the Doctor, a Mark-1 Emergency Medical Hologram, to be an android. This android moved less organic and more mechanic compared to the EMH, and sported yellow irises, like Soong-type androids. Also unlike the regular Doctor, the EMA wore a black undershirt and lacked a combadge.
In the 31st century, seven hundred years following the visit, the historian Quarren programmed "The Voyager Encounter" holoprogram at the Kyrian Museum of Heritage, which included the EMA character.
When the EMH backup module was recovered from an archaeological site, Quarren and the Doctor watched the simulation together. In this instance, the EMA had developed biogenic weapons at the behest of Captain Kathryn Janeway. The EMA modified the warship's phasers to carry the biogenic agent into the planet's atmosphere, decimating the Kyrian population. The EMA also assisted Chakotay and Harry Kim with the torture of a Kyrian prisoner, by injecting the soldier with a neural solvent.
The Doctor was appalled at the misrepresentation of his crew and friends. His holographic nature disproving the EMA's nature helped Kyrians to re-evaluate their history. The joint effort of Quarrend and the Doctor ultimately helped settle the peace between Kyrians and Vaskans. In another simulation further in the future, members of both species observed Quarren and the Doctor running "The Voyager Encounter" and is EMA sections. (VOY episode: "Living Witness")
Alternate timelines[]
In an alternate timeline thrown into disarray by the temporal anomaly crisis, versions of the EMA, referred to as Warship EMA, arrived in local space and joined the Federation. (ST video game: Star Trek Timelines event: "Joy to the World")
