- For the mirror universe counterpart, see Endar (mirror).
Endar was a male Talarian, with a reputation as a ruthless soldier.
Biography[]
In 2367, he was involved in an incident with Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise-D over Endar's human adoptive son, Jono, whom Captain Picard wanted returned to the Federation. After an incident where a confused and desperate Jono stabbed Captain Picard in his sleep, Picard made the decision to return Jono to Endar. (TNG episode: "Suddenly Human")
Endar later fought and eventually died in the Dominion War, with his son succeeding him as the captain of the Q'Maire. (ST comic: "Resurgence, Issue 3")
First Splinter timeline[]
- Due to the Borg attack on Earth in 2373 another timeline whose events differed from those that happened in the primary universe was created and subsequently destroyed during the Devidian temporal apocalypse.
By 2381, Endar served as the Talarian Ambassador to the United Federation of Planets. During the Borg Invasion of 2381, he was on Earth to meet with Federation President Nanietta Bacco along with other Ambassadors from surrounding galactic powers. Bacco intended to rally an allied fleet to fight back the Borg; Endar pledged the support of the Talarian fleet after little resistance. (ST - Destiny novel: Mere Mortals)
In 2382, Captain Picard of the USS Enterprise-E met with Endar, Jono, and Commander-in-Chief Ronzel in the Talar capital M'leint to discuss the Talarian Republic joining the Khitomer Accords. Endar admitted to Picard that he had taken on the function of diplomat because of Jono, with the hope that Jono apprentice under Endar until one day taking over as Ambassador. Ronzel took a hard line during the talks as the representative of the state, with Endar being a firm but reasonable negotiator. However, the talks were interrupted multiple times by a protest movement of the planet's women, which ultimately resulted in the kidnapping of Jono and Beverly Crusher. Endar was concerned about Jono's safety, and knowing they could not act in force, implicitly asked Picard and the Enterprise-E to use aggression against the rebellion, feeling this would be an opportunity for the Federation to prove themselves as allies. Picard readied an assault team but Jono and Crusher were able to secure their own release. When Endar learned that Starfleet Command had prioritized politics, he realized Talar could not yet trust the Federation, and recommended to Ronzel to decline membership in the Accords, but recognized that the outcome may have built a stronger foundation for future interactions.
